It was fantastic to see so many Masters, Crew and other river users keeping up to date with the emergency services’ work and recent events on the Thames at our latest free Thames CPD training event.
Held aboard the Dixie Queen at Butler’s Wharf Pier on Thursday 23 October 2025, the Emergency Services event was an awareness session hosted by the TSA and presented by the RNLI and the Marine Police Unit.
Over the course of two-and-a-half-hours, attendees were brought up to speed with the latest vital safety updates from the hosts. This included:
- RNLI: Water safety including float to live, life jackets (including how to inspect them), throwlines, lifeboat equipment on board for a range of emergencies and how to assist the RNLI
- Marine Police Unit: Roles, responsibilities, advice and guidance including on the Dive team and counter-terrorism information specific to the River Thames
Those in attendance gained five Thames CPD points in the Skills & Experience category under TSA’s (and other) Visits Programme to the Met Police, London Fire Brigade, RNLI and PLA.
You can find out more information about eligible activities for points under the Thames CPD Programme on our Training & Development page.
We’d also like to thank Thames Luxury Charters for their hospitality.
